Delivering a wide range of reuse, recycling and energy services across the islands
As well as sorting the kerbside recycling collections and running our furniture reuse project, we do the following:
Recycle Banks
We service and sort the cans, plastic bottles and textiles dropped off at recycle banks across the islands. To find your nearest bank, please go to GRAB Trust’s Recycling Point webpage and scroll down the list for Islay.
Shredded paper
We shred newsprint to provide animal bedding. Bales are available to buy at £3.50/bale including VAT.
Biodiesel production
We are producing biofuel from used cooking oil collected from hotels, and other businesses and households, to fuel the Re-JIG vehicles.
Beach Cleans
We work to clear the unnatural litter from our island’s many beaches. Community groups may obtain sponsorship money from Re-JIG for this activity.
Help to keep Islay and Jura Green and Clean – Don’t throw rubbish in the verges, use the Recycling Facilities instead. And help Re-JIG by joining the verge clean in March, contact Polly for more details.
ALI Energy
We support the Argyll, Lomond & the Islands Energy Agency (ALI Energy). The Re-JIG shop currently hosts an energy awareness information point. For information on renewable energy, energy efficiency measures and other energy matters, please drop in and talk to Kristeen. Although the funding for this info point has now ended we are still able to help and advise.
